The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering is by far our most popular course, suitable for the majority of food handlers in a wide variety of settings. Previous candidates include chefs in restaurants, cafes, hotels, super yachts, casino`s, amongst other places. 

A regulated qualification, accredited by Highfield Qualifications, this course is recognised by all authorities and is MCA recognised. The course can be run as a face to face course at your premises, or we can run a remote group session for you at a time to suit you. The exam is completed online using a remote invigilation app; this invigilation ensures it is a recognised, Ofqual regulated food safety qualification. 

We regularly run open Level 2 Award in Food Safety remote training on Zoom, and can offer an on-demand service; book the Zoom session and online exam for a time to suit you.

Course Details

Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering (RQF). One day course with regulated exam.

This course is suitable for:

Food handlers from the majority of food premises. 

It is particularly relevant to anyone that is involved in handling and preparing food in restaurants, cafe, hotels, super yachts & cruise ships, golf clubs and care homes. 

Typical candidates include chefs, stewardesses, waiters/waitresses, bar staff and care home staff.  

 

Duration and assessment:

This course is a one-day course and is assessed by a multiple choice exam with a pass mark of 13/20.

The remote training option is blended learning; a precourse workbook to complete prior to a 5 hour Zoom session before an online exam.

Course Content

The course content includes:

  • the consequences of poor hygiene 
  • most common causes of food poisoning 
  • microbiology (contamination, growth & destruction of bacteria) and food poisoning; key characteristics 
  • food contamination; types of contamination and preventing contamination of food 
  • allergenic hazards and controls 
  • HACCP 
  • Food safety during delivery, storage, preparation, cooking and service
  • Food handlers’ responsibilities regarding personal hygiene 
  • The importance of cleaning in food premises
  • Pest control
  • Design and construction requirements for food premises 
  • Food safety legislation and due diligence

Based just outside of London, we can travel Nationwide and Internationally, at an affordable cost whenever it suits you. All courses are now available as in-house courses delivered remotely on Zoom with the exam completed online using remote invigilation.

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering can be run at your premises, or remotely on Zoom with remote invigilation. We also run regular open courses on Zoom. 

For remote training, a workbook is sent out to each candidate to complete before the course. The course is run on Zoom at a time to suit you, with the exam completed online using a remote invigilation app. Results are available immediately, certificates are emailed the same day (subject to delays due to invigilation checks).
